Testing a microwave is a tough one for me. I tend to use few features, and when I use my microwave I’m in a rush. Manuals seem unnecessary, and, really, aren’t all microwaves the same? I thought so until now. Breville has come up with a new model called the Quick Touch Crisp that not only does the normal stuff like popcorn and eggs very well, but comes with a crisper pan for use in the actual microwave that gets food crispy on the bottom. No more soggy pizza with burnt cheese on the plate.
This tray has metal legs (that can actually go in a microwave) and allows pizza to come out crisp and perfect. After getting excited about the pizza, I tried samosas with the same incredible result.
The easy to use inverter microwave combines more even heating, brown and crispy results, with features of the Quick Touch. This microwave knows the right power level and time to suit different food types and switches to grill when it’s needed. What??!
The integrated crisper pan with an in-built preheat function works in conjunction with the microwave and grill to crisp and brown foods that normally become soggy from standard microwave reheating – you know the ones… pies, quiches, pastries and pizza.
I loved the smart buttons – the microwave offers a selection of the most commonly used food types in cook, grill, reheat and defrost modes.
The one-touch auto buttons provide access to your favourite setting and commonly used tasks such as melting chocolate, softening butter, baking potato and grilled cheese. These ‘shortcut buttons’ are visible as soon as you open the door, so the outside of the machine remains minimalist and streamlined.
Once your food is done there is a 30 second cooling function that threw me at first. Rest assured, though, your food will come out exactly as you wished, and the crisper pan is the coolest thing we’ve tested in a while!
Disclosure: We were sent a Breville Smart Touch Crisp for review. All opinions and love for this machine are ou
What settings did you use for the samosas, and for pie?
