Quinoa Turkey Meatballs

EAT, family meals By July 17, 2019 21 Comments

So Quinoa Turkey Meatballs are among our most popular recipes and it’s a great time-saver as you can make a large batch of meatballs ahead of time, freeze them and take them out each meal or snack time and add them to pasta, rice or veggies at dinner time or for a quick snack alongside cheese, crackers and fruit.  The meatballs are great for your kids to pitch in and help make.  They love the texture and rolling them into balls!

10 Days in California From San Francisco to Los Angeles

USA By July 12, 2019 No Comments

As far as I’m concerned, a trip to California without visiting San Francisco is a missed opportunity. Accordingly, I’m going to share how to have the most epic California road trip with a 10-day-itinerary. You can take out some of the activities as needed to align with the length of time you have for your trip but starting or ending in San Francisco is a must.

For this trip we decided to fly into San Francisco and fly out of Los Angeles but you can also switch this around and do the trip the other way.

An Old Family Recipe – Murial’s Brown Bread

EAVESDROP, family meals, LIVE, Seen By July 9, 2019 1 Comment

Today Ford was home sick from school so we took some time to bake a family favourite recipe that I so love on our Facebook live segment. We usually have Facebook lives on Mondays and Thursdays at noon Pacific time and baking and cooking is something I really enjoy doing live on Facebook. Normally when I’m making this particular dish, I double the batch so I have more to eat and some to freeze so that I can enjoy it later. It’s such a time saver!

Homemade and Healthy Ocean Water Recipe

Mommy Mixology By July 6, 2019 1 Comment

With the warmer weather starting to set in, we are always on the hunt for a refreshing beverage that exudes the feeling of summer season. A delicious, cool beverage is the best way to beat the heat while indulging the taste buds. Recipes that are a hit for kids with flavours and bright colours are particularly prized with everyone getting ready to be home from school until September. This would be a great addition to your outdoor party in a classy punch bowl. Cheers and drink up to summer fun in the backyard!

This Cocktail Will Make Your Summer

eat, EAT, entertain, self By July 3, 2019 1 Comment
Two summers…actually, three summers ago (my sense of chronology is on permanent mom mode), I had an amazing ‘mobile’ herb garden that we planted and grew in a bunch of mismatched pots on our deck. When we moved in to our first home, our tiny garden was totally professionally landscaped and we didn’t dare touch it, so this little collection of herbs was our attempt to curate and craft something of our very own in the backyard. Because I am a terribly undomestic goddess, I mostly just admired the herbs from afar (my husband trained as a chef in his twenties, so he’s in charge of the kitchen), until one day I decided to get experimental and leverage my love of cocktails to create a truly beautiful and very simple recipe.

Taking the Stress Out of Your Family Road Trip

auto By June 30, 2019 1 Comment

With summer only a few sunrises away, many families in North America are planning to gas up, hit the open road, and spend some quality time together. Whether your road trip is going to last a few days or stretch over many weeks, cramming a family into a small space can be a catalyst for stress and worry. We believe that your road trip should consist of more memory-making than worry-creating, so here are a few tips to help ease the potential stressors that may arise so you can focus on family.

This IVF Story Might Have Never Happened

baby, baby, FAM, nourish, pregnancy, self By June 27, 2019 17 Comments

So you’re thinking about starting a family. And you’re trying to start a family. And trying. And trying. And you’re at the point where, if one more person tells you to “relax” so “it will just happen”, you might lose your S@#* completely.

You’re thinking about seeing a doctor, or you’ve seen one, or three. The idea of IVF has come up. Or maybe it’s come up for your sister, or your best friend. You have questions, but you have no one to ask. You’re scared it won’t work, you can’t afford it, that it’s going ‘too far’. You hate needles. You’ve begun to wonder if there’s a deeper, cosmic reason you can’t have a baby. There are countless reasons why it’s impossible to even try. And then you suddenly start to feel like you’re just done with it all.

FAM, kids By June 24, 2019 1 Comment

Any parent who has ever taken a small kid to a large zoo, amusement park, museum, or who just has a reason to fear their kid might make a mad dash or decide to play hide-and-seek in public, has worried about what would happen if you got separated from the child. Fear and stress can make grown-ups forget important phone numbers, sometimes a lost child has trouble with their own name.

Now imagine your child has an allergy or other medical condition that causes worry. Perhaps your child is older but still non-verbal or is otherwise unable to communicate with strangers.

No matter what their age or abilities, we want our children to have the opportunity to fully experience the world. How to do that, and still keep them safe?

Stop Motion Video: Non-Stop Fun!

tech By June 19, 2019 No Comments

My son doesn’t enjoy writing very much but he does love making video. He is such an expressive, creative little person and he’s always looking for new ways to express himself on video. He transformed our front door into a backdrop, making his name out of tin foil shapes and adding an approximation of the silver play button he hopes to receive one day for all his hard work. He recently received Stikbot Studio Pro and 2 Stikbot Pet Singles to help him in his video production efforts for his Youtube channel.
