Stephanie: Week 8

fitness underwearOde to my Saggy Underwear: Gone are the days of invisible panty lines and French lace thongs. Or are they?  Becoming a mom moved matching or even coordinating panty sets pretty far down my priority list. I not only stopped caring but I also stopped fitting all of my alluring underwear. That combined with more trips to WalMart then La Senza my drawers are now filled with the 100% cotton and comfort of Fruit of the Loom instead of its previously inhabited lacy counterpart.

Stephanie: Week 7

Uncategorized By March 23, 2010 Tags: , 3 Comments

exercise-cartoonGive it another Shot:  In a world filled with PVR’s and Liposuction we can have anything we want with the touch of a remote control or the swipe of a debit card. Instant gratification has damaged our ability to use effort to achieve what we want. Let’s face it…if I didn’t win Fitness on the Go trainer for free I most likely would not have made it past that difficult and defeating first workout. I was determined to work hard but was so embarrassed by my first time performance that I felt crushed by disappointment. But, I got back up onto that pull up bar thanks to the support of my family, a little rationalization and knowing that all the wonderful women that didn’t win might resent me if I wasted this opportunity. Or at very least they might try to assume my identity to get some workouts and nike shoes.

Drinking Alcohol During Conception

FAM, pregnancy By March 17, 2010 Tags: , , , , 1 Comment

Many a baby has been conceived during a fun night of drinking alcohol-infused margaritas that may not be remembered by the parties involved.  Will the alcohol in your bloodstream during intercourse ultimately harm the pregnancy?  Experts suggest that alcohol from the night of sexual relations is more prone to adversely affect the chances of conception rather than affect the health of the egg or sperm.  Because actual conception occurs between 1 and 4 days following intercourse, the alcohol from the night you had intercourse will have left the bloodstream by the time sperm and egg meet.

“While there is plenty of evidence that a mom’s drinking during pregnancy can cause problems for the baby, there is no evidence that the  father’s drinking at the time of conception poses any direct risk. Even if you were drinking just on the night of conception, problems would be unlikely.” Dr. Marjorie Greenfield  www.drspock.com

Experts agree that worrying about alcohol consumption prior to learning of a pregnancy is not productive, and attention should be focused on ensuring a healthy pregnancy now and in the future.

Visiting Peggy's Cove with Kids

Visiting Peggy’s Cove with Kids

Canada, ROAM By March 13, 2010 Tags: , , , , , , No Comments

Canadian Atlantic fishing villages can teach children so much about real life.  And this one is too good to be true.  Visiting Peggy’s Cove with kids is inspiring in so many ways. Peggy’s Cove was made famous by the tragic Swissair crash in 2001, and it’s where kids can mail a letter in the only post office in Canada located within a lighthouse.  Walking the rocks that roll dangerously into the rough waters makes you feel at one with nature, and also cognizant of the formidable power of the ocean.  Make sure your children listen well, and if they don’t stand well back from the water’s edge.  Enjoy every minute of visiting Peggy’s Cove with Kids.
