Julie Andrews is obviously a Goddess. And thankfully, this was recognized by the wise folks at Netflix as well as myself. Tailored to creative pre-schoolers, Julie’s Green Room – a Netflix-original, is streaming away as of this month. You can join Fizz, Riley, Peri, Spike, and Hank, as they explore the magic of the performing arts under the mentorship and teaching of theater legend Julie Andrews.
Ms. Julie and her assistant Gus team up with some very special guests to help the ‘Greenies’ learn about the creative workings of each different performing art. The Greenies try to master each talent, learning and working together en route to their final dramatic performance. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like: Ms. Julie and friends want to show you how the theater is for everyone. What a perfect political time for such a lesson, no?
To celebrate this fabulous new thespian dream, the kids and I made sock puppets modeled after the adorable characters. One facet I love about being a member of the Stream Team is the way Netflix really tries to integrate off-line activities with their shows. Following their suggestions, the kids and I wrote our own puppet screenplay and created wonderful memories. We’d love to know how your kids react to this new show! (And we’ll forgive you if you start singing ‘The Hills are Alive…..’ as your kids look at you with bewilderment!)
