A Music Fest – and Houseboating – For The Whole Family

Robyn Cyr is one hip and awesome grandma. During the day she plays with her grandkids, aged 10, six and two, at the Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival. They romp in the bouncy castle and play games in the Family Fun Zone and pound on bongos, shake tambourines and dance in the interactive Playzone. Of course, there are drinks and treats from food truck alley afterward. Then the kids go home to the babysitter and Cyr gathers her husband, daughter and son-in-law.

City On Edge: The Images of Protest

Are you looking for a local experience that is educational without being boring? City On Edge is the latest exhibition at Museum of Vancouver, showcasing 100 years of protest history in Vancouver. It is based on the book of the same name, which was published by Greystone Books, and was written by by retired Vancouver Sun research librarian Kate Bird. Ms. Bird co-curated it with MOV’s curator Viviane Gosselin.

Teething pain is something I expected to encounter with my babies, and I felt confident I could provide pain relief and comfort. As a new mom, I was inundated with tips and tricks to help my teething babies. I gave them chew toys, cool washcloths, breastmilk popsicles, and more.

Road Trip Musical Memories

We used to hit the road a lot as kids, and the soundtrack of these adventures were largely dictated by my parents. That’s how I came to have an appreciation for the oldies and even learned enough of the words to sing along. We had a big blue case of cassette tapes that would form the background noise of our big drives. My parents were big on exploring new places, but the music was usually the same.
