“Whatever happened to predictability… the milkman, the paperboy, and evening TV?” The opening notes to the theme song of Full House, one of the most beloved sitcoms of the late 80s and early 90s, immediately evokes nostalgic memories for a generation of neon-wearing children. For me, hearing the lyrics puts me in my parent’s basement excitedly awaiting the next half hour of my 8 year old life, wherein I would wish that I too was a member of the Tanner family.

Full House aired from 1987 to 1995, and gained a cult-following in its loyal viewers.  The show was known for its mostly squeaky-clean story lines, its emphasis on family values, and its overall message that the love of family and a good hug can get you through anything.  When Full House went off air, the show continued to live in the hearts of fans through syndication. With the release of Full House on Netflix came an opportunity for fans to watch their beloved show anytime, anywhere, and as many times as they pleased.

Then, a few months ago, the inner child of every fan squealed with glee at the announcement that Netflix would be releasing 13 episodes in a spin-off show suitably named Fuller House. Fuller House will reconvene almost all of the original cast and will be available for binge-watching on Netflix (is there any other way to watch it?) on February 26th.

The build-up to the show’s release date has seen the Fuller House stars on social media, in People magazine exclusives, and conducting interviews on talk shows such as Ellen and Live with Kelly & Michael. Not to mention the tear-inducing teaser released months ago and which has been watched over 14 million times, plus the numerous Netflix trailers used to whet our viewing appetites.

The fans are waiting with bated breath for the live release date. But will the show live up to all of the pre-release hype?

A few questions are on the minds of the eager fans:

  • Will the show stay true to the family value themes for which it is famous?
  • Will DJ and Steve’s romance be rekindled?
  • Will the Tanner/Fuller family be able to make fans out of a new generation of children?
  • Will Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen really not be making a cameo?
  • Can all problems in the Tanner/Fuller household still be resolved by a friendly family meeting and a good hug?
  • Is it possible for the very high expectations of the original fans to be met?

One thing is for sure, tonight Netflix is going to be THE place to be for binge-watching this exciting new show!
