Tandem nursing allows you to nurse both babies at the same time, one on each breast. Nursing two babies simultaneously has several benefits. First, tandem nursing is faster than nursing one baby and then the other.  Second, tandem nursing can help relieve the stress of having one baby crying while you are occupied with feeding the other baby. Finally, the extra stimulation provided by tandem nursing can also help boost your milk supply.

If you plan on tandem nursing, it is useful to invest in a good nursing pillow specifically designed for tandem nursing. In the early days, however, you can prop the babies using a few pillows. It is a good idea to experiment with different tandem nursing positions to find what works best for you and your babies.
